Urban Brew will focus on offering a variety of cafe fare that appeal to the community at large. Urban Brew will offer a variety of prepared coffee blends in both regular and decaffeinated, as well as specialty coffee beverages, including cappuccinos, lattes, and iced coffees. Urban Brew will offer a Fair Trade line of coffee products that is of similar or higher quality to the competition, at a similar price. We will also offer other "conversational" beverages such as teas, fruit smoothies and sodas.

We will offer desserts such as sweet potato pie along with typical coffeehouse desserts like biscotti and locally grown specialty teas that showcase regional produce. We will serve exclusively Fair Trade certified coffee. We will strive to help other communities as we work to help our own. In the first year, Urban Brew will focus on bringing operations up to speed and selling coffee drinks and pastries made offsite, in order to maximize efficiency. In future years, as the Brooks Landing project is completed, we will add product lines.

Urban Brew will offer quality products, but our greatest advantage will be the community atmosphere. The layout of the facility will be ideal for conversations. The coffee bar is situated in such a way to facilitate fast service to commuters, and keeps the flow of traffic away from those areas were people are having quiet discussion. With a maximum expected occupancy of 100 people, there is enough room to accommodate modest community meetings or events. The second floor, while open to the lower level, provides enough privacy for business discussion.

Urban Brew will offer wireless Internet and access to computer terminals. We will encourage local realtors to use the coffee shop as a meeting place with prospective homebuyers. Easy access to internet and computer facilities will help showcase Urban Brew as a community asset to prospective homebuyers. We will also actively encourage neighborhood business people to utilize Urban Brew as an informal place of business.

The coffee shop will contribute to the local cultural scene by providing a small stage area for presentation of cultural and artistic events. Finally, we will also use the wall space to exhibit artwork by local and minority artists. These emerging artists often have trouble finding gallery space to show their work. Our support will help to showcase their art in the neighborhood and to the wider community.

Urban Brew will offer a college town atmosphere to University students without sacrificing community appeal. Urban Brew will offer programs and performances that will interest college students and give them added incentive to frequent the coffee shop. To attract residential and business neighbors, the shop will be available as central meeting space for use by community groups, sponsor exhibitions of local artwork, and host performances showcasing area musical talent. Urban Brew will further demonstrate its emphasis on being a community owned and controlled coffee shop by encouraging customers to regularly share their input with management through the Community Advisory Committee. There will be continual reminders and publicized demonstration of the reinvestment of profits in the community. In addition to positioning ourselves in this niche, we seek to make ourselves the destination for commuters to get their morning coffee with our speed of service and special commuter incentives.
